Uprooted
Shea Noland

Attached to the tree’s base and growing out onto the concrete, Uprooted aims to draw attention to the ways nature has been forced to fit into man-made spaces, constrained by buildings and walkways, and unable to grow freely. These ghostly, cast-like limbs criticize the ways in which nature has been removed and placed back in a highly manicured way, suffocating what is supposed to exist.
Shea Noland is a multidisciplinary artist maintaining a strong practice in sculpture and installation. Exploring themes surrounding memory, ghosts, and the ephemerality of objects, Noland aims to create immersive environments through materials such as plaster, resin, and found objects.
